Alana Estate Chardonnay, 2022

This lovely recent release of our Estate Chardonnay is wonderfully lightly oaked wine, best enjoyed with family and friends. 

Tasting Notes: 

2022 Estate Chardonnay

Elegantly composed and expressed, the wine shows apricot, rockmelon, lemon peel and nougat notes on the nose, followed by a beautifully flowing palate that's ripe and supple. Well balanced by juicy acidity, finishing lingering and creamy. At its best: now to 2027. Rated 93/100. 5 stars, Sam Kim, Wine Orbit. 

2022 Estate Chardonnay, Martinborough: The fruit was carefully harvested from two vineyards, one in the Dry River area of Martinborough and the other on the Martinborough terraces towards Te Muna valley on the 13^th, then the 26^th of March. It was pressed to a stainless steel tank, and after 12 hrs settling racked directly to a combination of French oak 500L puncheons, and 225L barriques, where it underwent a spontaneous fermentation. Throughout its 11 months of barrel aging, the lees were stirred every three weeks, and spontaneous malolactic fermentation took place in a portion of the barrels in the spring.

In February the barrels were emptied and blended under a nitrogen gas cover, before protein stabilisation and filtration in late February 2023.

The wine was bottled in March 2023.
