Alana Limited Release Martinborough Chardonnay, 2024

Wonderfully complex and enticing, the wine shows golden peach, baked fig, vanilla, oatmeal and cedar characters, leading to a concentrated palate displaying excellent richness backed by bright acidity, finishing persistent and satisfying. At its best: now to 2030. 

The grapes for this wine were hand harvested from a single vineyard in the Dry River area of Martinborough in the middle of March 2023. They were pressed directly to a combination of French oak 500 and 600L puncheons, and 225L barriques, where the wine underwent  a spontaneous fermentation. The lees in the barrels were stirred every two weeks during maturation, and some spontaneous malolactic fermentation took place in the barrels in the spring.

In February the barrels were emptied and blended under a nitrogen gas cover, before protein stabilisation and filtration in late February 2024.
